Delafield Residence
Stone, timber, iron, and stucco- elements of the Tuscan style are utilized in this Wisconsin home. The wings of the home extend into the landscape, creating outdoor living spaces for entertaining and recreation, and an entry courtyard embracing visitors through an arched portico. The home encloses the swimming pool terrace, which is bathed in sourthern light and nestled into a hill. Thickened walls, Romanesque arches, and timber brackets hearken back to old world contruction techniques.

The turreted entry creates an interior rotunda, off which radiates the more formal areas of the home; dining, living, and library. The heart of the home, where day to day living occurs, is the kitchen and family room which is hinged around another circular spacer: the breakfast room. From serving breakfast at the island bar, to relaxing on a comfy chair by the fire, there are spaces for every mood and activity. A timbered screened porch extends the outdoor activities into the night and provides cover on a rainy day.

Honoring the deep seated traditions of northern Italy, this home evokes feelings of relaxing on the terrace of a hillside villa where the vineyard flourishes in the distance.
